WHAT ARE THE DETAILS OF PRACTICE/GAMES?
Season Length
The season runs from 4th Monday in July (July 24, 2023) through November 30th. There are typically 8 regular season games. There are playoff games which could run your season longer than the 8 games. Games are played on Saturday or Sunday. The team you are on depends on the days that you play.
Heat Acclimation
For tackle football players only. Dates are Monday July 24, 2023, to July 28, 2023. Heat Acclimation will be held at Scott Field.
Practice Location
Starting August 1st, ALL Practices are held at the Coatesville Area High School
Flag Football Practice Location
Practices for Flag Football are 2-3 nights/week for one hour; reduced by one night after Labor Day.
Tackle Football Practice
Monday thru Thursday 6-8:30 pm in August unless otherwise announced. Practices are reduced to three nights/week after Labor Day. Specific nights determined by coaches and field space.
Cheerleading Practice
Start August 1st and are 3 nights a week (Mon, Tues, Weds) from 6-8pm; practices for ages 5-6 (Flag) are 2 nights/week (Mon/Tues) from 6-7 through August unless otherwise announced. Practices reduce to 2 nights a week for ages 7-14; one night/week 5–6-year-old after Labor Day.
Weather
Unless there is lighting & thundering, practices and games are played in the rain unless otherwise announced. In case of extreme heat, practices may be cancelled. This is mandated by the PIAA of PA and the high school AD.
WHAT DOES A TRAVELING PROGRAM MEAN?
CKR are members of the Independent Youth Football League, a traveling league. Teams will have some games at their home field (Scott Field Stadium) and some away games. Most teams we travel to are within an hour commute.
What does a Varsity/JV Program mean?
The IYFL League is set up to offer football and cheerleading to thousands of children in the PA and DE area. The league offers football play at the Varsity Level (more skilled players) and the Junior Varsity Level (skilled and developmental level). Varsity teams will have the opportunity to qualify for playoff spots; JV teams will often have post season games that are non-playoff based. **Note: We are not able to accommodate requests to place players on teams for reasons such as carpooling, friends/family members or coaching preference. Players are placed according to skills assessment.
Games & Schedules
Schedules are done by the IYFL. CKR will distribute once available, usually mid-late August. Games will start the last weekend in August. This is different from previous years. There will be a total of 8 regular season games. There could be 2-4 more games if teams make Playoffs & Championships.
